The increasing cost of higher education saddles many young adults with massive amounts of student debt. That’s why it’s critical to pick the right college savings plan and take advantage of all opportunities to minimize the cost of college.
I’ve sent this wonderful article to many friends and received a lot of grateful feedback. Over the years I’ve witnessed first-hand a lot of personal suffering and difficulties as successful entrepreneurs and executives transitioned from Grihastha (enterprise builder) to Vanaprastha (retired or “into the forest”). It is common for one’s attention to be consumed with the enterprise they are building and often what they do becomes synonymous with who they are. Many give no consideration to what’s next and when that time unexpectedly arrives they are caught flat footed. The result can be a lot of uncomfortable soul searching and unhappiness. What’s next for you? Where do you want to focus your attention? What values do you want to stand for? Do you have an Intentional Plan? This article from The Atlantic is good for thought. #BeIntentional #LiveTheLifeYouWant
“The big choices we make are practically random.” - Amos Tversky. “So how do you make these big decisions? How do you decide what career to go into, what person to marry, where to live, how to spend retirement?” Do you use a model for your life decisions? The “you just know” model; the 10-10-10 rule (how will this decision feel in 10 minutes, 10 months, and 10 years; or are you fueled by “your Daemon”? Great questions and answers in David Brook’s book The Second Mountain. If you are in or approaching a period of transition and exploring how to #BeIntentional and #LiveTheLifeYouWant this is a good read.

It’s not uncommon that successful people have been singularly focused and as they approach retirement this question can raise anxiety about how they are going to spend their free time. It’s never too late to learn a new hobby or get reacquainted with an old one. Check out the Smarter Living article from the NY Times.
